New 2 U Community Thrift

New 2 U Community Thrift

Tilden welcomed its first community-run thrift store on February 1, 2017. Local Pastor Theta Dame sparked the idea, hoping to model the store after one similar in nearby Elgin, Nebraska. Enlisting the help of other local citizens, plans were formulated, more ideas sparked, and an ambitious five-member board formed - and the non-profit store opened its doors and hit the ground running not long thereafter. After all utilities and expenses are paid, remaining profits from the business are invested back into the Tilden community and surrounding area for betterment purposes. To date in 2019, the store has donated back over $50,000 to worthy organizations, local and area causes, and individual needs cases.

New 2 U Community Thrift, located at 113 East 2nd Street, Tilden, is entirely volunteer-staffed and open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. Please see the New 2 U Community Thrift business page for current hours and other relevant contact information. Donations are always welcome.

Citizens willing to volunteer to work shifts at New 2 U Community Thrift are encouraged to stop in anytime during normal business hours to view the work schedule calendar and choose shifts that work for them. Citizens may also download the Volunteer Work Form, fill it out, and return it to the store during normal business hours to schedule shifts.
